Mexico has finally developed a successful operation to stop illegal immigration from this country to the US by developing a wide range “raid” over a caravan that was looking forward to enter into that portion of the Mexico-US border. Is this a message for Trump?

Most of the migrants that were part of this caravan belong to Central American countries. Escaping from the corruption and financial chaos in their home nations, they group together in the already well knows term “Caravans”, sometimes supported by “human trafficking organisations” that operate under Mexico’s government noses. All this people facing a humanitarian crisis sleep in the woods and hide between barbed wire fences only to try to get a better life. Is this Mexico’s fault? Maybe. Is this US ‘s fault? Maybe. But who hast to deal with corruption?

Mexican immigration officers claim that 371 people were arrested last Monday in what the say is the “largest single raid so far” over this type of caravans. This move was part of a group of more than 3,000 people and was finally broken up by the Mexico border patrol.

Mexico’s President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirmed the operation and explained that his government is not looking forward to assist in any way this kind of movements. Apparently this movements encourage human trafficking and it is slowly becoming a problem for a new President that thought he would be able to fix this in a fast way.

“We don’t want for them to just have free passage, not just out of legal concerns but for questions of safety,” López Obrador said.

At the same time, Interior Secretary, Olga Sánchez Cordero said the migrants that were arrested on Monday refused to “seek asylum” in Mexico. This is a problem for the government as they will have to let them go and it is very likely they will end up going again to the “Human Trafficking Networks” that operate all over Central America.

US President Donald Trump is looking forward to keep boosting the budget for a “Steel Wall” in the border with Mexico. This is only a message to AMLO. The goal of Donald Trump is to get a budget that will allow him to deploy more troops, drones and military equipment in the area boosting employment, work force and … financial revenue for the federal government. A smart move in complicated times. Meanwhile, AMLO has to face a much harder reality: A Mexico sinked into violence (Mexico’s murder rate is 10% higher than first 3 months of 2018) and a growing humanitarian crisis in Central America that is finding an end road in his country. What is next?
