Garden Grove Students Caught Doing Nazi Salute

A video has surfaced that shows a group of students from Garden Grove’s Pacifica High School doing the Nazi salute while listening to German World War II era music. This is not the first case of schools in the county having these types of videos come out. Earlier this year a group of students from Newport Harbor High were photographed at a party doing the salute over a swastika made of red cups.

The video shows the group of 10 boys in an off-campus athletics banquet in November of 2018 listening to the Herm Neil, a german composer during Hitler’s rise to power, and doing the stiffed armed salute while one boy begins singing as the group laughs. It was originally only shared on Snapchat, however, school officials did not find out about the video until four months later the video emerged on Instagram.

In a statement, the district explained, “In response to this unfortunate incident, district and school administrators have reached out to community organizations to provide support that will continue to ensure an anti-bias learning environment and address issues of hate, bias and exclusion with all staff and students.” District officials declined to comment on whether any of the students had received disciplinary action.
