LA TIMES

President Donald Trump is facing one of the most complicated weeks since he took over the White House. The “Whistleblower” scandal (Pelosi gathers all Democrats to Impeach Trump) threatens to affect his government as Democrats get together for the first time towards the start of an Impeachment Inquiry. Many believe that the President can overcome this situation. Is this possible? How this process might affect the 2020 Elections?

WILL THE IMPEACHMENT BOOST WARREN?

1 – The actual scenario shows a major support from the House (controlled by Democrats) in order to approve the Impeachment and send this process to the Senate.

2 – If this process gets to Mitch McConnell (R), the Senate Majority Leader, many questions will surround the White House. First of all, how to control the Republican Senators that need to renew their seats on Purple States like : Arizona, Florida, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. If what some polls show is real: Texas might be included on this list. Second, if that is under control, how this will affect Trump’s image towards 2020.

3 – Trump always wanted to run against Democratic candidate that is positioned on the “extreme” side like Warren or Sanders. Biden for him was a problem as more and more Americans started to feel “uncomfortable” with the President. Some scenarios like China, Iran, and Mexico … are not attractive for his base anymore and already show a slow, but steady decline of support for Trump. De activating Biden was probably Trump’s idea, but now Pelosi might have helped him. Why?

4 – With the support of the “moderate” Democrats, Pelosi got the party together and now threatens Trump with an Impeachment Inquiry. There is no point of return for Pelosi, and she knows this is almost like “sacrificing” Biden’s race. Even if this is not the perfect scenario for Democrats as Trump might be able to control the Senate, Warren will get a boost from this investigation. We will publish a poll regarding this, right after the whistleblower’s declaration.

HOW CAN TRUMP SAVE HIMSELF FROM THIS?

The power of Donald Trump is based on his image and his rhetoric. He has been using Social Media and TV as a perfect platform to explain himself. Most of the time, he succeeded in delivering to his base, which is a strong 33% of the registered voters. But this might not be enough: Words have to become actions and Trump is not entirely convincing his people. Failed strategies over North Korea, Iran, the Middle East, Venezuela, Mexico, Russia, and an incoming recession are already showing a lack of popular support for most of the Cabinet. Trump is probably thinking: Why did I let Bolton go? Still, he has some opportunities for overcoming this challenge:

1 – If he manages to control the Senate and a group of (according to sources) at least 16 Senators that are not sure on their vote, Trump will be out of this mess stronger, with more confidence and with the chance of controlling US Politics for at least, 8 more years.

2 – At the same time, if Democrats fail to prove this situation as a major “crime”, Trump won’t need much effort to overcome any of the candidates challenging him during the 2020 Elections. Does Pelosi have solid information to create a disruption inside the Senate? Maybe.

3 – Even if Trump is not impeached or the process fails, he will definitely lose some support. But he can definitely gain more from it as his personality rules the White House. Some like to compare this situation with Clinton or Nixon. The first one got a boost from the situation. We believe Trump is another type of political creature and he can create and destroy policies, the market or … candidates with a simple Tweet.

Do Democrats have what it takes to challenge Trump? Is this Impeachment Inquiry just another attempt to make Trump uncomfortable? Will the Whistleblower put Trump out of the White House? What do you think?
