California wildfires are getting stronger and few measures are actually effective to control the spread of this burning events that raise all alarms every summer. Many different ingredients are “playing” at the same time and they are a very powerful “cocktail” that might not be possible to control.

CLIMATE CHANGE? IS THERE A DIRECT RELATION? YES

If Climate Change is real or not is a very difficult and complicated question to answer right now. But for sure stats show that the weather in the world and of course in California is getting warmer. This is not good for dry areas as wildfires can erupt easier under this conditions. The state has been under a very long drought and at the same time faced last year the second wettest year recorded. Good for farmers and probably bad for fires as more vegetation increase the chances of wildfire outbreaks during dry stages. What about weather itself? According to Union of Concerned Scientists : “The Pacific Northwest has warmed at least 1.3°F since 1895 and the impacts of this warming on the sensitive ecosystems of the region are already apparent to many residents”

THE EARTH IS GETTING WARMER UNDERGROUND? YES

Many scientists and independent researchers are raising a very interesting question: Earthquakes are starting to build up under California and this is directly related to the movement underneath where the ground is shaking, that means: Magma. Last year different voices questioned one situation that seemed very clear but some government agencies do not address or do not fully explain to the public: Was the ground “shaking” close to the areas of Camp Fire (deadliest and most destructive in CA history) and Woolsey Fire? Possible. If magma is trying to escape from underneath the ground it makes sense that the earth on the surface will get “warmer” … (Paradise : Contaminated Water Supply System)

No matter which of them is the key to prevent and address the wildfires, it is very clear that the system right now is not effective. There is a clear combination of different events happening at the same time, especially weather and underground temperature rising. How much information do we have to prevent wildfires? Are we using resources effectively?
